44 Days

Jews have always been the people of the book, and the establishment of Israel only strengthened this identity. 44 years ago, Shmuel Yosef Agnon, whose house may be visited in Talpiot, Jerusalem, shared the Nobel Prize in Literature with German Jewish author Nelly Sachs. Writers such as Hayim Nahman Bialik and his literary descendants Jacob Steinberg and Jacob Fichman helped plant the seeds of literature and poetry into the soil of the Jewish State. Today, the works of such Israeli writers as Amos Oz, David Grossman, A.B. Yehoshua and Naomi Ragen are translated and read around the world.

The 2010 Parade will feature the theme: "Lights... Camera... Action... Israel!", and while highlight the many and varied accomplishments of our brothers and sisters in Israel (including, but not limited to, Israel's Nobel Prize winners). So please join us on Fifth Avenue on Sunday, May 23rd as we salute Israel and her achievements together!
